NEW POSITION - Vice President, Corporate Accounting - Hartford, CT Area

Job Summary:

Vice President of Corporate Accounting is responsible for all aspects of corporate accounting and financial reporting at the PNX level and subsidiaries, including GAAP and statutory accounting, investment accounting, financial reporting, and financial reporting controls compliance. Oversees the Life insurance companies’ operational accounting and variable products reporting. Leadership responsibilities include day-to-day interaction with Life & Annuity financial, strategic planning & expense management and corporate tax functions, and oversight of a department of approximately 30 accountants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Performs miscellaneous duties as required by management.

· Manages monthly statutory and GAAP close process including management reporting
· Oversight of quarterly statutory accounting / compliance function including filings with state insurance regulators

• Interface MS activities between plant and corporate. Deploy IS activities to maximize attainment of plant and corporate objectives.
• Manage plant system conversion to SAP. Create and implement solutions to all issues and maintain a strong internal control environment.
• Interact effectively with Sr. Management. Identify opportunities and translate to actionable cost improvement objectives. Ensure financial processes are adhered to according to CSC standards and best practices.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• Accounting/Finance degree (MBA, CPA, CMA preferred)
• 2-5years related experience
• Strong analytic capability, ability to transition between tactical and strategic business decisions
• Strong interpersonal communication skills; build strong working relationships across multiple functions and ability to influence others.
There is a strong emphasis for the candidate to have SAP exposure.

CT- Hartford County – Reimbursement Specialist

DESCRIPTION:
This position functions as a specialist in the reimbursement area, assuming responsibilities related to third-party reimbursement, revenue and allowance budgeting and financial analysis. This position reports to the Director of Finance.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares year-end cost reports for third-party payors and other outside agencies to comply with State and Federal requirements.

Prepares for and interacts with State, Federal, and external financial auditors during annual review of cost reports.

Provides Medicare and Medicaid rates for Managed Care and Patient Accounting Departments to ensure accurate monitoring of payment and allowance information.

Collects, summarizes and reports information regarding the Intern and Resident teaching program for Medicare reimbursement.

Develops month and year end third party closing entries and supporting documentation for six month and year end reviews by external auditors.

Assists in annual budgeting process for revenues and allowances to develop a complete and accurate annual budget for presentation to the Board of Directors.
