Sales Engineer – Cary,
NC Area
DESCRIPTION:
This client is seeking
an experienced Sales
Engineer (SE) with a
strong technical
background in mainframe,
COBOL, and related
technologies. You will
be supporting the US
sales team in selling
products and services
related to migrating
mainframe applications
and databases to modern
technologies.
This position requires
the ability to
demonstrate the
company's products and
services, and to create
and write technically
oriented sales support
documents such as RFP
responses and technical
“vision” documents. In
addition to technical
skills, this position
requires a sales focus
and ability to work
closely with and support
sales representatives.
The position provides
significant compensation
in the form of a base or
base plus commission.
Travel is required and
typically includes
several short trips each
month.
The ideal candidate will
have significant prior
sales engineering
experience, selling to
enterprise accounts with
deal sizes ranging from
$500,000 to $5M to large
corporate customers.
This is not a Business
Development or a Sales
Representative position.
It requires a strong
technical background.
Relocation is not
required and work from a
private / home office is
acceptable. Significant
earnings potential
exists in this exciting
public company for the
qualified candidate.
Duties:
You will be responsible
for:
Participating in sales
teleconferences with
sales representatives to
help understand prospect
technical requirements
and build a buy vision
based on the company’s
products and services.
Demonstrating the
company’s products and
services both other the
phone and on-site in
person.
Helping to write and
respond to RFPs and
informal prospect
proposals
Helping to write and
review Statements of
Work (SOWs)
Experience:
The following

Experience developing
software on mainframes
Experience with COBOL
and other related legacy
applications
Strong written and
verbal communication
skills
The ability to organize
and write complex,
technically oriented
sales documents on your

Strong organization and
attention to details
Be energetic, positive,
and bring a “can do”

Be able to work well

legacy modernization
services and products to
large accounts in the
US. The position
requires an experienced
representative, with
proven success in
selling $100,000 to $3M
deals to large corporate
customers. Our client is
the market leader in
legacy application
modernization, helping
its clients modernizes
their midrange (AS/400,
System) applications.
This is not a Business
Development position. It
is 100% sales.
